The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is a non-profit organization committed to the ideas of social democracy and works through its network of offices, programs and partners in more than 100 countries.
In its international work, FES supports the democratization of states, strengthens civil society, improves economic and social conditions, and supports free trade unions and independent media. In particular, it facilitates the exchange of ideas and experiences through conferences, seminars, roundtables, training programs, research and publications. In addition to its work in the Global South, FES hosts dialogues on how to further the process of European integration, on the future of transatlantic relations and on the reform of international organizations.
Political education in Germany
Through information seminars and training programs, FES encourages citizen participation in politics and society.
The Foundation´s scholarship programs enable gifted and socio-politically committed young people to study and conduct research in Germany. Through the alumni program former scholars stay in touch with the foundation for many years.
