Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to the website of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) published at the URL https://www.alumniportal-deutschland.org/.
As a public body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we endeavour to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGG), the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102, and the harmonised European standard EN 301 549.
1. Status of compliance with the requirements
The accessibility requirements are based on Sections 3 (1) to (4) and 4 of BITV 2.0, which was enacted on the basis of Section 12d BGG.
A BITV self-assessment test was carried out on the website in July 2024 to assess the accessibility of the website. Sixteen of the 98 test steps were rated as ‘partially fulfilled’, ‘rather not fulfilled’ or ‘not fulfilled’. This means that the accessibility requirements for the website are partially fulfilled. We are endeavouring to remove these barriers in the first quarter of 2025. A complete BIK BITV test is then planned with the aim of obtaining the test seal.
The following barriers were identified:
- There are syntax errors on all pages.
- Words and sections in other languages are never highlighted.
- Some areas cannot be bypassed with assistive technologies.
- Quotations are not semantically correct.
- Videos do not have subtitles. Foreign-language videos lack switchable subtitles in the main language. The videos lack audio description or full-text alternatives.
- The current position of the focus is not always clearly visible.
- The contrast between text, graphics and graphical user interface elements is often insufficient.
- Input fields for user data often do not convey their purpose.
- The name, role, and value of controls are rarely available.
- The website only partially takes into account user-defined browser settings.
2. Date of creation or last update of the declaration
This statement was created on 21 August 2025.
