Join us for the 2025 Community Challenge Virtual Pitching Event, where social entrepreneurship and health are the focus! The seven finalists, whose innovative ideas for improving global health and wellbeing have been voted the most promising by the jury, will pitch their projects to a panel of expert judges and interested community members. 

This event highlights creative solutions that aim to reshape global health. Join us and don't miss the innovative ideas and highlight of this year's Community Challenge!

The agenda includes a lightning talk, the pitches by the seven finalists, and the announcement of the challenge winners.

🕐 | 3:00 PM (CEST) - Reimagining Innovation: Co-creating health with local voices 

Keynote by by Alejandra Bussalleu

This keynote address encourages participants to reconsider innovation in healthcare as a collaborative and inclusive process. Drawing on work with indigenous communities in the Andes and the Amazon, it demonstrates how traditional knowledge and resilience can inform sustainable, climate-responsive solutions. By bringing together local and global viewpoints, the keynote emphasises that genuine innovation occurs when communities are recognised as equal partners and authors of change, not simply as beneficiaries.

🕐 | 3:20 PM (CEST) - ­­Pitches by finalists 

Seven selected individuals or teams will have four minutes each to showcase their innovative ideas. Following their presentations, jury members will provide immediate feedback and ask questions. The finalists and their ideas are presented below. 

🕐 | 4:20 (CEST) - Lessons in Building and Evolving a Product

In this session, the focus will be on the . They were among the most outstanding participants in the last challenge. Aurora will share their journey from the initial idea to the community challenge, mentor feedback, product pivots and fundraising. She will focus also on valuable insights along the way, including the importance of testing, the power of taking action and how to balance motivation with discipline.

🕐 | 4:40 (CEST) - Entrepreneurship as the perfect life teacher

Regardless, if you embark on a new personal or professional venture, or try to raise your children to become decent human beings. There are fundamental values related to personal development that either foster or hinder your ability to succeed. This lightning talk by Matthias Treutwein offers the essentials, linking key entrepreneurial skills to important life competencies.

🕐 | 4:50 (CEST) - Announcing the winners

The winners of the 2024 Community Challenge will be announced by the jury. The three winners will receive professional entrepreneurial mentoring to further develop their concepts. This comprehensive mentoring program includes guidance from experts in the field of entrepreneurship who assist the winners in creating a business plan, advising on legal and financial issues, and formulating business and marketing strategies.

    Almaterna is a safe, Spanish-language app connecting postpartum Latin American migrant women. Through peer matching, support circles, and access to professionals, it offers community, guidance, and culturally tailored resources to reduce isolation and improve maternal wellbeing.

  • Khanya Schools Collective

    Harmful sexual behaviours in South Africa schools threaten children’s safety & learning. Our preventative programme teaches learners to spot risks, engages parents/teachers, & builds safer schools. Cost: R25k/school, targeting 50 schools (R1.25m). Proven impact, scalable, urgent.

  • Housing, Memory, Healing

    Casita para la Vida empowers displaced Caribbean families to build healthy homes while healing collective trauma. Our participatory toolkit integrates self-construction with memory recovery, creating resilient communities from the ground up

  • Community Health Pods

    AI-powered, solar Community Health Pods (CHPs) deliver preventive care, mental-health counseling, and telemedicine in underserved areas. Offline, local-language triage + women/youth facilitators cut stigma. Air/water sensors trigger alerts. Scalable, inclusive, SDG-3 impact.

  • ESKAPE kit

    Point-of-care Urinary tract infection detection and antibiotic susceptibility test delivering results in 3-6hrs vs 48hrs, using proprietary media & color-based analysis.
