Online-Workshop about how to launch and grow your career in Germany
The "Germany Career - Planning & Preparation" Workshop Series is a comprehensive coaching program provided by Alumna and member of the Alumniportal Deutschland Community, Jessica Schüller, for internationals devoted to navigating the journey from making the decision to look for work in Germany to mastering the crucial probationary period. Individualized pathways and workshops are based on original, proven curriculum that is adapted to each student group's specific needs. The workshop series will help students create a solid foundation for planning and preparing for a job search in Germany, avoid the most common mistakes internationals make, and set the stage for successful, systematized career preparation.
Online - workshop description
While some internationals are successful with launching and growing their careers in Germany, others struggle with finding suitable employment. Adequate planning and preparation are needed to understand the context of job searching in Germany long before sending out applications. In this workshop you'll learn key, effective strategies for understanding what is expected of you as an applicant and how you can best prepare for your Germany career launch.
This workshop series will cover
- How can a career launch in Germany be planned?
- German labor market needs and entry avenues
- Preparation before the application: creating a skills development action plan (SDAP)
- The role professional social media, language skills, and your applicant profile play in the process
- Common mistakes internationals make
- Support with drafting a realistic career start timeline
- Pre-Workshop Preparation - This includes:
- A survey used to customize the workshop to the students' needs
- Access to the handouts and slides
- Q&A Form
- 2-Hour in-depth training, including a live Q&A session
- Gap analysis
- Personal SWOT
- Skills Development
- Action Plan

Jessica Schüller is a graduate student and Erasmus Mundus fellow in the Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MaRIHE) program at Tampere University in Finland and Danube University Krems in Austria. She helps international students, young professionals, and expats launch and grow their careers in Germany. Prior to launching Germany Career Coach, she worked as an international career advisor at a German university, managed an internship program in Germany and taught German cultural studies to international students.
