By 2030, all women and men have access to high-quality professional and academic education. A dream? If the fourth goal for sustainable development (SDG 4) will be consistently implemented, this vision shall be reality by 2030.What is necessary then? Offer more scholarships? Improve the training of teachers? Supply more free online opportunities?
The two experts will share some possible success factors and challenges with you on how SDG 4 can partially be reached, seen from two different perspectives.

Professor Mike Kuria
Deputy Executive Secretary of Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) since Nov. 2016 where he is directly responsible for higher education.
He was Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya.
He served as coordinator of IUCEA/DAAD Regional Quality Assurance Initiative, whose objective was to develop a higher education quality assurance framework for the East African Community (EAC).
He was one of the investigators for UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning (IEEP) research on quality assurance instruments in higher education involving 8 universities from five continents.
He was the founding Secretary General of the East African Quality Assurance Network (EAQAN).
Kersti Wissenbach is an international consultant and researcher who has been working on the intersection of technologies, communication and socio-political change since 2005. She has worked on co-creating strategy and policy design in countries such as Rwanda, Mozambique, Nigeria and Cambodia, mainly in the field of open governance and civic space.
Kersti is researching transnational data activism as member of the DATACTIVE research project at the University of Amsterdam. She is lecturing in the Communication for Development program at the University of Malmö, the first to pioneer the use of an Internet-based distance-learning platform to make the education available to students globally.
