Our series of three consecutive workshops offer know-how on the three topics and phases of social entrepreneurship - idea generation, business model generation, and pitching (convincing others of your business model). During the workshops you will work on your own concrete ideas and receive help through expert guidance and practical exercises.

After a pre-selection process, the shortlisted ideas will be published online. The Alumniportal community is invited to provide initial feedback on the ideas. Community members can also vote for their favorite ideas and help decide which ideas make it to the final. This will harness the innovative power and knowledge within the community. During this phase, the challenge participants also have the opportunity to get to know each other digitally, exchange ideas and clarify questions.

At a networking meeting, all finalists have the opportunity to get to know each other before the pitching event, clarify questions and meet the jury.

The six finalists with the most promising ideas, selected by the community, will take part in the pitching event and face an international jury of experts.

October - December 2025

Winners will receive structured professional mentoring from experienced experts to develop their concepts into viable businesses. This comprehensive mentoring program includes support from entrepreneurship experts to help winners bring their ideas to market. The program also explores funding and networking opportunities to help winners turn their ideas into reality.

How do we decide which ideas are admitted to the pitching event? Our jury, consisting of experts from various fields, including health, research, and entrepreneurship/consulting, decides together with the community (voting) which six ideas make it to the final and thus to the pitching event.

The following criteria will guide the selection:

1. Relevance: Does the idea clearly relate to SDG 3 (health and well-being)?
2. Clarity: Is the solution presented in a convincingly structured way?
3. Impact potential: Can the idea influence people's real lives or existing systems?
4. Feasibility: Can the solution be realistically developed with limited resources?
5. Innovation: Does the solution/approach contain something unique or new?

Social entrepreneurs recognise societal challenges and develop innovative, sustainable solutions to improve the well-being of the community.

 Community Challenge is an open call to a community to jointly develop solutions for specific social challenges. It aims to collect and promote creative, practical, and impact-oriented ideas.

Typical characteristics of a Community Challenge:

•  Topic focus: the challenge usually focuses on a socially relevant topic (e.g. health, environment, education).
• Openness: Entries can be submitted by individuals, teams or organizations within the community.
• Cooperation instead of competition: Although prizes or awards are possible, the focus is often on cooperation, sharing knowledge, and learning together.
• Impact orientation: We are looking for feasible ideas with measurable social benefits.
• Community involvement: The target group is actively involved - e.g. via feedback rounds, network meetings, pilot projects, or co-design.
