HUMBOLDT CITIES LECTURE (Recording)

Language: English

Many cities and urban communities have resisted the exclusion of migrants and refugees based on the lack of citizenship or status and non-belonging to the national imagination. The current international trend of anti-migrant and anti-refugee nationalism has put heightened pressure on these cities and communities.

In this presentation, Harald Bauder will first present a theoretical framework of urban migrant and refugee solidarity and then draw on preliminary evidence from the international Urban Sanctuary, Migrant Solidarity and Hospitality in Global Perspective (aka Soli*City) partnership to reflect on urban migrant and refugee solidarity in the current political climate.
