ANIMP Alumni Network Interkulturalität Münster-Pachuca

The Alumni Network Interkulturalität Münster-Pachuca is an organisation for active and former scholarship holders of the German-Mexican student's exchange on the subject of intercultural educational theory between the Westfälische Wilhelms University of Münster (Institute of Ethnology and Institute of Educational Science) and the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo in Pachuca, Mexico.

The programme is promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the programme of international studies and education partnerships (ISAP). The programme begins in the winter semester. Four Mexican students together with German students take part in seminars/lectures on ethnology and intercultural competence and comparative educational science. In the second part of the exchange programme the participants study in Pachuca where they deal with subjects of the intercultural educational theory in Mexico (e.g., history of indigenous and intercultural socialisation, education at school in Mexico).

Another main part of the one-year programme is the intensive cultural exchange between the German and Mexican students in everyday life. The organisation of linguistic tandems, excursions and activities (e.g. cook something together) are only some examples. The regular’s tables in Münster as well as in Pachuca are the basis for the intensive exchange between active as well as former scholarship holders.

The aim of the network is to develop and to strengthen the scientific and intercultural contacts. Moreover the network organizes events dedicated to intercultural questions which refer to Germany and Mexico.
