Dr. Amel Karboul: “I am a person who loves to be free”

Dr. Amel Karboul studied mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, completing her degree in just eight semesters and coming top of her year. After 24 years in Europe, she returned to her home country and helped shape Tunisia’s future for a year after she became the country’s tourism minister in January 2014.

Julieta Rojo: “I am a Mexican with a Cologne soul”

Julieta Rojo’s life was shaped by Germany from an early age. After attending a German school, she embarked on a degree in medicine at the National Autonomous University (UNAM). Rojo went to the University of Cologne on a scholarship in 1977. Even today, the doctor from Mexico maintains close ties with the country – professionally and personally.

Natalia Freitas: “I can’t imagine life without art”

DAAD alumna Natalia Freitas has made her hobby her career – and with considerable success: she has already worked at the Disney studios and on producing the animated film “Moana”. She got there as a result of having a concrete plan and over ten years of hard work.
