Period in Germany: 1994-1995 on a DAAD scholarship
Research facility: Leipzig University
Job: Head of a language school
From 1994 to 1995 I completed a doctorate in linguistics and literature at Leipzig University. It was an interesting and very pleasant year. At that time I was writing my doctorate and it was very helpful being able to work with the German colleagues there. Today I am head of The Philadelphia Academy language school in Mladá Boleslav.
In Germany I got to know new methods and new people, and collected a lot of materials. I was also able to improve my German. People were very friendly towards me and I got support from the lecturers and other German colleagues. I am therefore in contact with some of them to this day.
I like the German culture and literature. In addition, I appreciate the academics’ willingness to help in Germany, and their support and discipline. In my opinion the German universities are perfectly organised and equipped, and very flexible.
I consider international academic exchange to be very important. Germany plays a major role in this area.
