Silas Kipkemboi Tarus talks about his best experience in Germany:

‘In Germany I got to experience all four seasons for the first time, and above all winter. In Kenya we only have the cold rainy season and the hot dry season. When the first snow fell, we were sitting in a German-language lesson in Mannheim but we couldn’t concentrate anymore. The teacher let us take a break so we could go outside. Initially it was a lovely experience, but over the course of time it became unbearable because the biting cold lasted for four or five months.’
