Breathe2Change Initiative - Connecting science and society for smoke-free air
The Virtual Coffee Break on the Alumniportal Deutschland
Topic: Connecting science and society for smoke-free air
In Argentina, air pollution is a major problem, mainly due to slash and burn and the burning of rubbish and biomass. These practices contribute significantly to the emission of fine dust into the atmosphere. This creates major health problems for the population and has a negative impact on agricultural yields. Rodrigo Gastón Gibilisco would therefore like to use his Breathe2Change Initiative: Connecting Science and Society for Smoke-Free Air to better control air quality in Tucumán, Argentina, and at the same time raise public awareness of the issue. One component of the initiative of Gibilisco and its partners in Germany and Argentina is the development of an inexpensive sensor module to measure air quality. The local population is to be involved in the collection of measurement data, the collected air quality data will be made accessible in real time via a publicly accessible platform. The network is supported by academic institutions, NGOs from Germany and Argentina and political decision-makers. In this virtual coffee break, Rodrigo Gastón Gibilisco will present the initiative and be available for questions and discussions.
