Apply now: Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellowship
TUM-IAS awards Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellowships to distinguished researchers from industry and gives them the necessary time and financial support to develop novel research areas and to expand their connection to a TUM research group. Applications are invited from all areas of the TUM research portfolio.
Up to 2 Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellowships will be awarded to outstanding researchers from industry with a strong connection to TUM research groups. To increase international collaboration, TUM-IAS especially welcomes applications from companies from outside Germany.
Objective & Funding
The Fellowships last 3 years with the expectation that the Fellow will spent at TUM in order to develop an intensive collaboration with the hosting Focus Group. Throughout the affiliation period, the Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellow may offer special courses and lectures in his/her field of expertise to enhance the connection between the university and industry. During the Fellowship the Fellow continues to be employed by his company. TUM-IAS expects the company of the Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellow to support the connection of their researcher to academia by continuing to pay his/her salary.
The Fellow receives a research fund for travel, accommodation and research related costs depending on the length of his/her actual stay at TUM. For Fellows with family responsibilities, the TUM-IAS offers flexible funding and various other kinds of provisions.
It is possible to nominate a Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellowship candidate as part of a “tandem package” together with a Hans Fischer (Senior) Fellowship candidate. It is also possible to only nominate one candidate for a Rudolf Diesel Industry Fellowship.
Application process & Deadline
The Deans of TUM Faculties, all further members of the “Erweitertes Hochschulpräsidium (EHP)” as well as members of the TUM-IAS Board of Trustees can directly nominate candidates for TUM-IAS Fellowships. The nominee and the planned TUM-IAS Host should submit a joint application.
