Call for Application: SDG summer school “Sustainability in the food-water-ecosystem Nexus in Sub-Saharan Africa”
The University of Bonn, Germany, and Makere University in Kampala, Uganda, are announcing their first summer school for talented junior researchers from 12 to 18 March 2018 in Kampala, Uganda.
Who can apply?
The summer school addresses doctoral and postdoctoral young scientist from Sub-Saharan Africa and Germany with an interest in interdisciplinary research in the field of the Food-water-ecosystem Nexus in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The first summer school in March 2018 focusses on sustainable wetland ecosystems. Senior scientists and experts will cover topical issues related to water, wetlands, food security and ecosystems. The presentations will be anchored in relevant sustainable development goals. The lectures will be accompanied by presentations of all participants on their specific research, group discussions and field excursions.
The summer school presents a unique opportunity to meet fellow researchers with interdisciplinary background including agronomy, socio-economy, hydrology, ecology, biodiversity and ecosystem services. Over the course of seven days, issues related to the trade-offs of the SDG`s with respect to sustainable wetland use will be discussed.
The summer school will be held in English.
