The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation is one of three cooperation partners that implement the Alumniportal Deutschland.

The Foundation promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. Research fellowships and research awards allow scientists to come to Germany to work on a research project of their choice together with a host and collaborative partner. Scientists and scholars from Germany can be supported in carrying out a research project abroad as a guest of one of more than 30,000 Humboldtians worldwide – the Humboldt Foundation's alumni. As an intermediary organisation for German foreign cultural and educational policy the Humboldt Foundation promotes international cultural dialogue and academic exchange.

Every year, the Humboldt Foundation enables more than 2,000 researchers from around the globe to speand a research stay in Germany. The Foundation has a worldwide network of more than 30,000 Humboldtians from all disciplines and in more than 140 countries – among them 61 Nobel Prize winners.
