Episode 1: Heavy rainfall and urban flooding in times of climate change

Climate change and continuous urbanization contribute to an increased urban vulnerability towards flooding. Humanity’s major challenge now is to find adequate climate adaptation strategies through which damage due to such natural hazards can be minimized. This stresses the need for a systematic and integrated approach to tackle the multi-hazard risk that our planet faces.
