"I think it was the right choice"

Carmen Julia Pastor Maldonado comes from Sevilla in Spain. Currently, she studies molecular medicine at the University of Tübingen. Due to coronavirus, her work in the lab had to be paused and all her plans delayed. She wanted to finish her Master’s thesis in August, now this must wait until December. Next year, Carmen wants to do a PhD in Germany and subsequently find a job in a pharmaceuticals company in Germany or Switzerland. At least, Carmen’s German classes and regular exercises still take place also during Corona times , but now at home and through Zoom.

Carmen decided to come to Germany because she thinks it is one of the best European countries when it comes to working in science. The investment in medical science here is much higher than in Spain and there are many more opportunities for young scientists to succeed. In addition, Carmen wanted to learn German and she thought that the best way to do it would be by completely immersing herself in German society.
