Advancing Inclusivity in Education for Children with Disabilities

Inclusive education for children with disabilities is an approach that enables them to fully participate, engage and succeed in the mainstream education system while receiving the necessary support and provision for their diverse learning needs. Certain challenges and barriers persist when it comes to achieving full inclusion for children with disabilities, including a lack of resources and support, obstructive reservations and stigma, legal and policy gaps, and systemic barriers that deny affected children a quality education. Susan Nasipwoni emphasizes the urgency of prioritizing and accelerating efforts to advance inclusive education for children with disabilities as a matter of social justice, human rights, educational equality, and ultimately, support for mothers. There is a need for collective action by governments, policy makers, educators, families and civil society to address persistent barriers, promote inclusive practices and create learning environments in which all children, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, can thrive and reach their full potential.

Speakers are Germany-Alumni who give a short input presentation and then answer questions from the participants and facilitate a discussion.
