MOOC “Managing the Arts” of the Goethe-Institut
“Managing the Arts: Cultural Organisations in Transition” is the next stage of the 2015 MOOC “Managing the Arts: Marketing for Cultural Organisations”, which had more than 17,000 participants from more than 170 countries.
This course, conceived and organised in cooperation with Leuphana University Lüneburg, will take place between 14 April and 14 July 2016. It is aimed at employees of cultural institutions, artists, students and freelance cultural entrepreneurs. The course language is English.
The course will be moderated by Chris Dercon, Director of London’s Tate Modern Gallery and designated artistic director of the Berlin theatre Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. The focus will be on the issue of “transition”. It addresses both digital transformation and the changes of funding structures, human resources management and societies in general.

More than 80 video lectures, produced specifically for this course, and an extensive body of literature will form the foundation. The course will receive its practical relevance through four video case studies. All videos will have German, English and Arabic subtitles.
Up to 1,000 participants will work in international study groups of 5 persons each and can obtain an ECTS-certificate. A maximum of 10,000 further participants can take part as self-learners and obtain a certificate of participation.
Everyone who has a computer or tablet and an internet connection can register. Participation is free of charge.
